Winners of Lauderdale County Spelling Bee

Students who participated in
the 2007 Lauderdale County Spelling Bee are pictured at the
event.
The Lauderdale County School System recently
held its annual 2007 Spelling Bee on Jan. 30. Students
representing Ripley Primary School, Halls Elementary School,
Ripley Elementary School, Halls Junior High School and
Lauderdale Middle School competed in the event, which was hosted
this year by Halls Elementary School.
In the Primary Spelling Bee, HES third grader
Mariah Carmack won first place, with RPS second grader Shelmesha
Barbee taking second and RES third grader Weston Conrad placing
third.
In the Intermediate category, HJH eighth grader
Kirby Cherry won first place, with LMS seventh grader Breshae
Damper earning second, and HES sixth grader Amanda McClellan
taking third.
Officials with the Board of Education send
congratulations to each school for doing an outstanding job at
the 2007 Spelling Bee.
