April meeting adopts textbooks, approves tenure
The Lauderdale County School Board was busy at its regular
April meeting.
The group met in the board room at Ripley Elementary School
on April 2, addressing issues including student accident
insurance, budget amendments, the student dress code and the use
of personal communication devices and electronic devises within
the school system.
Tenured teachers were also approved, as well as textbooks to
be adopted for science classes throughout the system.
School board members also approved the core values, mission
and vision presented at the group’s School Board Retreat March
13-15.
In the Superintendent’s Report, Superintendent of Lauderdale
County Schools Joey Hassell informed School Board
Representatives of what stimulus money may mean for the
Lauderdale County School System, and that dates would soon be
scheduled to discuss the budget for the 2009-2010 school year.
Hassell also reported that Tommy Durham and his Project
L.E.A.D. staff received a perfect score on their evaluation by
the state and Paul Van Hoesen submitted an application for Rural
Development Grant for High Schools—to be determined in
September.
