A fair for parents

The Lauderdale County Board of Education recently hosted its
2007 Parent Education Fair at Ripley Elementary School, with
information on several of the system’s new programs offered to
parents as well as workshops on health interventions, family
involvement and how to read TCAP scores.

Several organizations set up educational booths in the school
gym to offer additional information to families of Lauderdale
County students and a talent show was held from noon until 1
p.m.

The day began with a health walk at 9 a.m., which was followed
by workshops on TCAP scores, the system’s new Three Tier
Program, Title II and ESL opportunities, health interventions
and the importance of family involvement in schools.

Door prizes, food and drinks were available, as well as crafts,
face-painting and fun for the whole family. The event was
organized by Lauderdale County Schools Instructional and
Materials Supervisor Phillis Barlow.
