Happy New Year! It is indeed a
pleasure to be rejoining Lauderdale County Schools. It is my
intention to provide the county with an environment in each
school that is safe, enjoyable, and conducive to learning. It is
also my commitment to do my best to serve the county in a
professional manner.
I can’t promise that my approach to the job will please everyone
all of the time, but I can promise that I will always listen. I
will respect and consider multiple viewpoints, and I will always
act in the best interest of students. Students are the reason
that educators should come to work each day.
Superintendent Message January 2009As we
work to make Lauderdale County a great place to live and educate
children, Lauderdale County Schools will be accessible, open,
and accountable.
As a school system, we will be accessible. You can rely on us to
work closely with our communities to solve problems. Success for
Lauderdale County is a realistic and obtainable goal.
As a school system, we will be open. If you have questions, we
are going to give you honest answers.
As a school system, we will be accountable. Our goal should be
simple: come to work each day with the purpose of making
Lauderdale County Schools among the best in our great state. We
will see results. The people who know me best will tell you that
I don’t tolerate excuses. I can be impatient. I know that
“process” is important, but results count more. We can’t
accomplish all we need to in one semester, but we can
demonstrate improvement. And we will.
I plan to spend the first ninety days in Lauderdale County
assessing the system’s programs to determine where strength’s
exist and improvements are needed. You will find on our website
the Superintendent’s 90-Day Entry Plan that I will follow as
well as the guiding principles that hold true to the development
of a first-class educational system.
I will work with all stakeholders to set and publicize a clear
vision for the future of the school system. I’ll be the first to
admit that we can’t get there alone. Students are in school only
about seven of their waking hours – 180 days a year. If we are
to fulfill our mission of academic achievement for every student
in every school, we will need all the energy and commitment that
Lauderdale County can muster.
I look forward to working with you, for you, and beside you. |
