Project L.E.A.D. hosts National Guardsman
The last Friday morning of September was a very special occasion
for students in the early morning Project L.E.A.D. program at
Ripley Primary School, with about 50 students welcoming Staff
Sgt. Christopher Cole as the featured speaker of the week.
Cole is currently with the Ripley 268th MP Unit, where he serves
as a recruiter. His message to the boys and girls at RPS covered
the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and how the events of that day
changed the world and the way Americans live in it.
Kindergartners spend a day down on the farm

The kindergarten classes of Mrs. Karen
Harris and Mrs. Pam Langley at Ripley Primary School recently
enjoyed a field trip to the Henning Dairy Farm. During the trip,
students fed a baby calf and went on a hayride provided by Mr.
Oliver Voss.

RPS students have “Happy Feet”

Friday mornings represent recreation time for the early morning
Project L.E.A.D. program at Ripley Primary School, according to
Program Director Tommy Durham. Recreation is an important part
of the program in an attempt to address the fact that Tennessee
ranks third in the nation in childhood obesity.
Recently, about 50 students were introduced to the Happy Feet
Running Club by its organizer, Jessica Myers. Students had a
special time with many fun activities following a discussion
about the importance of exercise and healthy eating habits.
Myers will offer participation in the fitness club to interested
students on a weekly basis.
It’s a jungle in here

Students in Mrs. Eline Dyson's Pre-K classroom were recently
introduced to Tarzan and Jane during a recent study on pets.
Dyson thought it would be a good experience for her students to
experience a visit from an exotic pet for her unit, so she
invited Sheila Stephens and her daughter, Maddie, to showcase
their pet birds, Tarzan and Jane.
