RPS hosts Family Reading Night

Ripley Primary School recently hosted its Family Reading Night. During the event, students and their families were welcomed into the library for the evening to enjoy the school’s selection of books and earn accelerated reader points. RPS is in the process of planning another Family Read/AR night for the spring.

RPS earns continued SACS accreditation

The RPS SACS leadership team is pictured with RPS administrators and the SACS review team during the school’s recent onsite review.

A Quality Assurance Review Team representing the Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), visited Ripley Primary School on January 22 and 23. Hosting an onsite review team was the final step in the school’s extensive efforts to maintain accreditation by SACS CASI. The primary requirement for accreditation is that Ripley Primary School provides evidence that it meets ten standards as required by SACS CASI. The team reported that Ripley Primary met the expectations for all 10 standards and recommended continued accreditation.

The faculty and staff at Ripley Primary would like to thank all the parents and stakeholders who participated in the accreditation review.

RPS Celebrates School Board Week

Ripley Primary School recently celebrated School Board Week with several activities. Second grade students wrote letters inviting school board members to visit their school for lunch and a program. The students served as escorts for the representatives and shared their lunchtime with them while Pre-K students and other second graders provided entertainment.

Students shine in Reader’s Theater

Students in Ms. Jenny Brandon’s second grade recited Shel Silverstein’s poem “Helping” at the school’s recent Most Recognized program. Learning the selection first as a Reader’s Theater piece in class, the students then memorized it for the program. Reader’s Theater offers students an opportunity to practice reading fluency by reading their part from a script in groups or with partners.
