FFA members at Ripley High School have recently been very busy building up their Ag program and taking part in local and national FFA activities.

Students and faculty have been busy this year, taking part in livestock showing, building a new greenhouse, establishing the Officer Team for the 2006-2007 school year, getting first-hand agricultural experience and attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.

Students in the Ag department even took time recently to give a lesson to Secondary/Vocational Supervisor Sue Toles on how to use power tools.

W.A.Y Club gets a close look

Members of the RHS W.A.Y. Club were recently shown how to feed a baby calf by RHS Ag teacher Kent Cherry and members of the high school's Ag department. Students in Mrs. Peggy Roberson’s class enjoyed seeing the animals close up and learning about the care needed to keep them healthy.

Writing their way to Washington

Juniors in Ms. Melanie Sargent’s American Studies class at Ripley High School are currently involved in the Forked Deer Electric Co-Op’s Essay competition. Ten finalists have been selected to compete in the contest, with two winners chosen to join other winners across the nation in Washington, D.C., this summer in an all-expenses-paid trip to a leadership conference.
