The Wonders of Writing

Ripley Elementary School Excel teacher Kathi Bridges recently presented a writing lesson to fifth graders in the school’s Project LEAD program. During the lesson, Bridges inspired creativity and shared examples and ideas to promote good writing skills for the students who participated.

Space Talk

If you had the opportunity, what questions would you ask someone who has actually traveled into space?

Fourth-grade students in Sandra Thayer and Tressy Crutchfield’s classes at Ripley Elementary School recently joined other schools across the nation for an opportunity to ask those questions in an online chat with former NASA astronaut Rich Clifford. The opportunity was provided by Space Explorers, which is funded by a grant that was given to the Lauderdale County Schools by the Development and Advancement of Rural Education or D.A.R.E.
