A new tiger joins the LMS team

Lauderdale Middle School is
proudly sporting a new mascot. A tiger was painted on the
football locker room door by Edward's Sign Company. Go Tigers!
LMS receives donation from area industry

Lauderdale Middle School
recently received a donation to assist in the educational needs
of its students by an area industry. A check for $750 was
presented to LMS principal Ron Bales by Chris Broglin of SRT’s
north division, located in Ripley.
The sound of science

Students in Mrs. Kim Webb’s
seventh-grade class at Lauderdale Middle School recently added a
new twist to memorizing the scientific method. Combining music
and science, the students created songs listing the steps of the
scientific method and performed them in front of the class.
Yummy experiment

Students in Mrs. Pennington’s sixth-grade
science class at Lauderdale Middle School began the new school
year with an experiment using a well-known brand of candy. After
determining the dominant color in a bag of M&M’s, the students
were able to eat their experiments.
LMS welcomes new SRO officer

LMS’s new SRO Officer Amo Baggett speaks with several LMS
students during lunch time. The officer adds security to the
campus, but also provides information on how to recognize gang
activity and career opportunities in criminal justice.
Lauderdale Middle School is proud to have Amo
Baggett as a new and welcome face on campus. Officer Baggett has
been in police work since 1999. Before joining the police
department, he was an EMT with the Lauderdale County Emergency
Ambulance Service.
Officer Baggett helps administrators and teachers
monitor the students as they move through their classes during
the day. The students seem to respect the officer’s presence in
the hallways and feel the school is a safer environment with his
presence.
An SRO officer on the school grounds also
provides information to the students on how to avoid gang
activity and career opportunities in the criminal justice field,
which they may further investigate in the Criminal Justice
program offered by Ripley High School.
Officer Baggett and wife, Bilinda, have 3 sons
and live in the Ripley area.
