HHS Fall Sports

At Halls High School, the crisp fall air brings students the opportunity to compete and cheer for several sports.

Football, volleyball and golf are available for students in the first semester, with teams working hard to represent their school.

In football, the Tigers are about halfway through their season and working hard to move forward in their district.

“We’ve got a good group of hardworking kids,” said Coach Chris Hurt. “They are working hard to have success, and I think success will follow them.”

The HHS golf team recently hosted the District 15A-AA Golf Tournament at Dyersburg Municipal Golf Course. Senior Christi Meeks scored the fifth lowest among the girls, sending her on to Regional competition at Bear Trace in Chickasaw. Todd Aitken also played well in the District Tournament, earning a score of 85, one stroke short of advancing to Regionals.

Coach Joey Tetleton leads the volleyball team.

HHS FFA members travel to Washington, D.C.

Several members, Charlie Hammond and Ashton Smith, of the Halls High School Future Farmers of America organization traveled to the nation’s capitol to learn and serve alongside 2,300 others at the National FFA Washington Leadership Conference.

The five-day event trains FFA members to make a positive impact on their school, local community, state and country. Activities focused on honing their leadership skills to the highest level and concentrating on lessons in problem-solving, relationship-building, living with character and developing an attitude for serving others.

The capstone activity of the Washington Leadership Conference is a civic engagement activity, which takes leadership and service learning to new standards. Partnered with the Mid Atlantic Gleaning Network, participants gleaned food for Washington area food banks and shelters. In the past two years, WLC participants have dedicated over 23,000 hours of service to the Washington area.
