HHS sophomore Carley Cherry was recently selected to serve as Western Region Vice-President of the West Tennessee FFA Association. She is the daughter of Cathy and Kent Cherry of Halls and a member of the HHS FFA Chapter.

As West Tennessee vice-president she will serve the membership by working at regional contest, presenting at the Greenhand Conference, and presenting the West Tennessee Awards program. She will serve one year in this position.

To be selected for this position Carley took a test on FFA knowledge, filled out an application, wrote an essay, and participated in an interview. She is the third member of the Halls Chapter to serve as a West Tennessee officer.

Spring weather brings focus on HHS sports

Many upgrades at Halls Critchfield Park, such as this new surface on the tennis courts, will add a boost to the spring sports season this spring.

Spring sports are underway at Halls High School, with students enjoying many improvements at nearby Critchfield Park this season.

The tennis team, led by Coach Richard Dawson, will enjoy playing home games on resurfaced courts. Thanks to a new grant from the Town of Halls, the nets and lights have also been replaced and the fencing painted.

Players, parents and leaders throughout the community have spent much of their own time and resources on improvements to the high school baseball field in the off-season, as well. Coach Mike Blackwood worked hard this winter with volunteers and town officials to ensure that players enjoy a new dugout, additional batting cages and a new press box, as well.

The softball team will also enjoy improvements to the complex. The team is led by Coaches Joey Tetleton and Molly Meeks Tetleton.
