HES celebrates Constitution Day

Third-grade students at Halls Elementary School recently presented a Constitution Day program on the history of one of our country’s greatest documents to the student body. The students marched in a parade of patriotic flags and sang several songs in the program, with presentations including information on many of the nation’s founding fathers.

What’s in that Big Mac?

Sixth graders at Halls Elementary School recently learned what their favorite fast foods really consist of in a program presented by J.C. Dupree of the U.T. Extension Service. The program, entitled “Healthy Eating/Fast Food” used several visual aids to show the students the actual amounts of fat, salt, and sugar present in fast food choices with the purpose of encouraging healthier eating habits.

Halls Tigers visit HES

First graders at Halls Elementary School recently received a visit from Halls High School football players and Head Coach Chris Hurt during the high school’s Homecoming week. Coach Hurt and the senior players talked to the students about what it takes to play football for the high school, including making good grades and doing your best in practices. The students had a chance to visit with the players, as well, and hear about the fun activities planned during Homecoming week at the high school. They also invited them to attend the Homecoming bon fire, pep rally, and ballgame to support the high school team.
