Lauderdale County represented at SCOPE Conference

Attending the SCOPE Conference in Nashville
recently were (from left) Superintendent of Schools Phillip
Jackson and students Craig Davis and James Barbee
Lauderdale County School Superintendent Phillip
Jackson accompanied Craig Davis and James Barbee to the 2008
Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE) held in
Nashville in March. Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Davis,
represented Halls High School. James, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keever
Barbee, represented Ripley High School. Both juniors will serve
as Student School Board members during their
senior year next year.
Attendees participated in debates on current topics in education
which local boards of education address. They had mock school
board meetings and held a debate on various topics in the
closing general session. Superintendent Jackson also served as a
group moderator for the SCOPE Conference.
