Lauderdale County represented at SCOPE Conference

Attending the SCOPE Conference in Nashville recently were (from left) Superintendent of Schools Phillip Jackson and students Craig Davis and James Barbee

Lauderdale County School Superintendent Phillip Jackson accompanied Craig Davis and James Barbee to the 2008 Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE) held in Nashville in March. Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Davis, represented Halls High School. James, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keever Barbee, represented Ripley High School. Both juniors will serve as Student School Board members during their
senior year next year.

Attendees participated in debates on current topics in education which local boards of education address. They had mock school board meetings and held a debate on various topics in the closing general session. Superintendent Jackson also served as a group moderator for the SCOPE Conference.
